Acupuncture
Acupuncture has been indicated for a wide range of conditions such as pain, disease, and dysfunction. The ancient Chinese used Acupuncture - Chiropractic Treatment as part of a system of healing called Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Acupuncture was developed as a technique based on a network of energy that exists just below the surface of the skin.
Traditional acupuncture treatment uses needles to tap into the energy that flows to all of the body's systems: circulatory, musculoskeletal, digestive, nervous, and many more. Stimulation of specific pressure points with acupuncture needles can restore balance and function in problem areas.
Modern, or Western, acupuncture is based on the best available science, commonly known as evidence-based medicine. Needles are still used with or without electrical stimulation and may be applied to many different areas of the body, including the head, hands, ears, and feet. While specific mechanisms of why acupuncture works are still being developed, acupuncture may successfully treat four ailments: pain, spastic muscles, anxiety, and fertility.
Acupuncture has a cumulative effect and treatment typically begins with several sessions per week, gradually tapering off as the desired result is achieved. Our doctors blend traditional and modern acupuncture for the best treatment results. If you are interested in trying a different treatment modality, or you are not getting anywhere with conventional medicine, please give us a call and we will schedule you for an appointment.
Massage Therapy
Research has shown the effectiveness of medical massage for relieving muscle pain and tension, especially for sufferers of chronic pain who do not get relief from other methods.
Massage Therapy - Chiropractic Treatment may be used alone, or in conjunction with other rehabilitation modalities. A well-trained massage therapist can locate and manipulate points of tension and relax sore and inflamed tissue. There are a variety of massage techniques, and your therapist will determine which one is appropriate for you.
We offer massage therapy at our Foulk Road office.
