Pain Management Counseling with Dr. Irene Fisher
Chronic Pain Care
As a part of your recovery process, pain management counseling can be a very effective part of the physical rehabilitation treatment program. At Delaware Back Pain & Sports Rehabilitation Centers we have an on-site psychologist, Dr. Irene Fisher, who works with patients who have sustained acute injuries or who are living with chronic pain conditions. Individuals who have been involved in motor vehicle accidents, work-related accidents, slips and falls, and sports injuries, have benefited from counseling sessions with Dr. Fisher.
Dr. Fisher helps patients learn more adaptive ways of coping with their physical pain, work through the emotional impact their physical condition may have on everyday living, and maximize their responses to the challenges of the recovery process. She instructs patients in the use of cognitive and behavioral strategies that help to reduce the experiences of physical pain and emotional trauma that often develops secondary to physical injuries. She can teach you how to address feelings of fear, anger, sadness, and frustration.
Dr. Fisher understands the enormous impact that accidents can have on an individual's sense of independence, self-confidence, and identity. Very often, individuals who are confronted with the need to make significant changes in their lives also experience feelings of grief that must be acknowledged and worked through emphatically. Patients who are experiencing Low Back Pain, Neck Pain, Migraine Headache, concussions, or anxiety around being in a car as either the driver or the passenger, have benefited from counseling sessions with Dr. Fisher.
