Regenerative Therapy
Regenerative Therapy is used by our doctors at Delaware Back Pain & Sports Rehabilitation Centers for patients looking for an alternative to surgery. These procedures can be done at one of our office locations throughout Delaware. This safe, non-surgical procedure provides effective relief and healing for most patients. We specialize in Prolotherapy and Percutaneous Needle Tenotomy (PNT).
Prolotherapy
Prolotherapy is a type of regenerative medicine that dates back to the 1930s. This alternative medicine technique uses the body’s natural healing process to decrease pain and improve function. It can be used alone, or with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to provide natural healing therapy with rapid results.
Prolotherapy involves the injection of a mild irritant solution to stimulate the healing process and regenerate healthy tissues at the site of an injury or wound. The injection stimulates localized inflammation, signaling the body to create new collagen, a protein that strengthens our tissues and muscles. As the new collagen matures, it strengthens the ligament or tendon that was injected.
Prolotherapy can be an effective treatment for many orthopedic conditions. For patients who want to avoid surgery, or are not candidates for surgery, prolotherapy may be an excellent alternative. Delaware Back Pain & Sports Rehabilitation Centers has expert physiatrists with advanced training in prolotherapy and other regenerative healing techniques.
Not everyone is a candidate for prolotherapy. A history of lymphoma or taking Plavix may exclude you from receiving this treatment. Talk to a specialist today for more details. We’ll find a way to give you pain relief and long-term healing.
Percutaneous Needle Tenotomy (PNT)
Another type of regenerative medicine used by our doctors is Percutaneous Needle Tenotomy (PNT). PNT involves the repetition of needle incisions to stimulate the healing process and regenerate healthy tissue at the site of the injury. By using ultrasound-guided injection, our doctors can maximize the healing by getting a more accurate location of your injured area. The needle stimulates the aggregation of platelet growth of the area to stimulate healing of injured tissue. The therapy can be used alone, or combined with prolotherapy.
